Nifty Copper Operations

site overview
The Nifty copper mine in WA, is located in the Great Sandy Desert Region of the East Pilbara in Western Australia, approximately 1,250 km north of Perth and 350 km east of Port Hedland.
The Nifty Sulphide Operation is one of the largest underground copper mines to be commissioned worldwide in this decade.
Underground mining is performed using modern diesel or electro-hydraulic equipment of large capacity. Underground mining is currently carried out using open stoping methods and backfill.
The processing plant at Nifty consists of a sulphide flotation circuit which produces a saleable concentrate. It also includes a leach and SX-EW circuit, which produces saleable copper cathode sheets.

rooms are very poor, no tv's are supplied and constantly fighting to get dirt to the pad so plant is always getting turned off

Worst site I've ever worked on. Site management arrogant and unapproachable. Safety non-exisitent and moral very low. avoid at all costs.

Did a few shutdown at nifty
Could not believe how slack the safety was, Guys walking through a copper plant without hard hats and in sneakers.
The camp was under large trees and large branches were banging on the roof all night, There was a hole in the wall around the aircon unit where they had replaced a prior broken one.
Run by an Indian company looks like they are always trying to patch the place up rather than fix things right.
The plant had major leaks all through it and was not kept clean.
This is a highly corrosive environment so all the gear was falling apart on site too.
I was there for 2 weeks and just took it as a bit of fun MORE LIKE CAMPING OUTDOORS.
No tv's in rooms either.
I would not want to stay there long term but for a few days you can bare it.
The people are pretty nice and they have some kind people there although LOTS and LOTS of green people due to the low wages and poor condition.
Evrey one is trying to make a living

i spent 8 years at Nifty and watched it grow from a small open Pit with Western minig , Straights rescources and Aditya Birla , which developed it into a full underground mine with a concentrate Plant , camp grew from 160 to 1200 during construction then back to about 6-700 , great social aspect and terrific veiws of the desert .

Ha ha ha, just like everyone else, circumstances lead me to a short stint shiftbossing underground at Nifty in 2014. Nifty is proof that the only thing Indians understand is curry. Nifty is not so much a mine as it is a pantomine. Zero safety standards, zero attraction and with a mad rip tear bust mentality that meant they were continually chasing their tales in circles. So of course the underground shit itself, was only a matter of time. So many dopey green cunts, without fuckall to their names and I'm supposed to make fucking operators out of them? Half of them were dank sheep fuckers, the rest were twenty something year olds with a couple of tribal tuff stickers, more attitude than a fifteen year old girl and a complete aversion to actual work. Did my head in.

What a joke! There have been 2 deaths at this site and these a$$$$ still do not give a f*** about safety.
I was made to learn how to drive underground in a Hilux when it should have been a Land Cruiser. 4 men tested positive for meth who were driving dump trucks and boggers around me. I was finding Jumbos that had isolaters installed backwards, so when it was in the off position the whole circuit was on! Including the high voltage!!! Heaps more unsafe shit is still waiting to kill someone and the picks could not give a f***.
This is the worst site that I have ever been to and the worst safety standards. If you value your life do NOT go there!

If you can avoid this site do so. Not worth the trip to the airport. There is a reason it is voted worst site in Australia.
Only worked at Nifty mine doing field service. I didn't rate this mine as the site was really hot and the camp was poor. Didnt like it and wouldnt work there again.
