Christmas Creek is fully owned by Fortescue Metals. Mining began in 2009 and since then the operation has expanded significantly.
Currently the Christmas Creek mine comprises of a new ore processing facility that has a rated throughput of 18mtpa. Expansions are still continuing within the mining operation.
The site also includes a state of the art camp which houses 1600 people at any one time.
I really enjoyed working at christmas creek. The facilities are world class compared to some other mine sites around Australia. There are two huge swimming pools massive gym and really great food. FMG are setting the standard thats for sure. The work was good to. Pretty clean for an iron ore site and they have plenty of resources to keep the place going. Would work there again for sure
This place was seriously dusty and the infrastructure was falling apart. The amount of mud that was covering the place is crazy!!
After all the cuts to staff the place has low moral and most people are waiting to get sacked.
The rooms are nice and food is good though. Id stay away.
This place is going down hill fast. The place is full of Managers / supervisors who micro manage everyone and are just mates of mates who slid into the role during the labour shortage seriously don't have a clue. Sweep all safety incidents under the carpet. Not long before another death will occur here its a joke.
