Coobina mine is located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Situated 80km South East of Newman the Chromite mine produces 200 thousand tonnes of Chromite each year for Asian markets.
Coobina comprises of an open cut operation with a processing facility onsite. Ore is then loaded onto haul trains bound for Port Headland.
Coobina was pretty tough to work at. The site is not very organised. I definitely think that they could do with some camp upgrades. There was no mobile reception which made things very tough. The phones in the rooms weren't very reliable either. Not one of the better places to work.
What a dive of a place. No phone reception and wages were average. Place is old.
