The Loy Yang mine is located in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley approximately 160km east of Melbourne.
Loy Yang extracts more than 30 million tonnes of coal per annum, It also has a reserve deposits of 160 billion tonnes making it the Southern Hemisphere's largest coal producing mine.
The majority of employees reside in the townshp of Traralgon which has a population of 125,000.
