Mt Weld

site overview
Mount Weld is located 35 kilometres south of Laverton, Western Australia. The mine has a single open pit operation that operated for two years before stockpiling enough ore to cease mining.
Mount weld is predominantly a concentration processing plant that extracts rare earths from the ore. The rare earths are used in a variety of different products ranging from car exhaust catalytic converters to mobile phone circuit boards. Ore is processed using a new flotation plant that has just been expanded in 2012.
Personnel are accommodated at the nearby Granny Smith mine owned by Barrick Gold. A new camp is in the process of getting approval.

Great Operation still under developement , and will a terrific place to gain skills and work with a top team of positive attitude people

Mt Weld is great place to develope skills and has a terrific future ,once the new camp facilities are in place it will be one of the more enjoyable places I have worked at
Mt Weld is really great place to work. The people were all great to work with which is rare on a mine site. I think in general they have got most things right to make a place enjoyable to work with. Good people, good machinery, solid work practices and when everyone helps out the place really gets going.
You stay at the Granny smith village which is ok. I think Lynas were building one soon.
Great place good roster definitely a winner

Good site with good people and infrastructure. Apart from a few isolated people in the early days all departments work well together so the atmosphere is really positive around site. Granny smith camp is'nt very good as it is very old and the Mt Weld people are treated a bit like short term contractors. IF/When Lynas build their own camp it will be one of the best sites to work at.
Worked at mt weld during the end of construction phase. You are accommodated at the near by granny smith village which shares with Barrick gold. The camp is old and not very clean but still tries to provide everything it can. The wetmess is pretty cool as its like a pub with stalls and a good bar. Nice beers options to. Food is average, So are the rooms.
Mt weld site is pretty good. Its a brand new site that is mostly a processing plant. The second phase of commissioning has nearly finished and they look to be ramping up soon. Everything is new so its nice to see a really clean site with good facilities. Nice crib room and good workshop.
The people were really great to. Maintenance and processing were really good in welcoming new starters and had good procedure foundations.
Would work there again for sure
