Site Reviews

Pool has now gone, even though it was only a backyard pool! Area has now partly been turned into a smokers area at the wetmess which is to small.
Food can be hit or miss depending on which cooks are in.
Have just started pre packed meals for crib. So far not any good, poor selection and always running out.

The Sunrise Dam camp and facilities are very out dated, the mine has a dirt landing strip so that means if it's raining your flight in/out will be diverted to the nearest tarmac airport which is Laverton 55km's north of the mine. There's no WIFI or internet facilities in the room back at camp and a TV is not supplied. The food in the dry mess is hit and miss, if you like pies these are no longer available to take for smoko however are available for purchase at the wet mess for $4 each or $6 with a coke. If you your gym junkie you can purchase a gym membership for $60 per year and a $20 deposit on the scan card. The pool has been gone for quite sometime now which can be handy in summer. All up not a great review but each to their own.

I enjoyed my time here. The people were the best part of working here. The camps dated but what can you do. I'd work here again.

Good clean camp, reasonable food and great working conditions. Was directly employed with Anglo so automatically had a hollywood room.

Camp as of 2020 is looking very old...
Rooms are clean but old...
AC in rooms but no sound insulation...can hear guy snoring next to you or Indian guy talking on phone all night.
Reports of shared bathrooms for some contractor rooms..
Food is ok but you can see how they are squeezing the budget..
Camp WIFI is poor..
Laundry good but high demand..seems like not enough machines or dryers.
No laundry service for work uniforms have to wash them your self.

Great people, some the best I have ever met actually. Yes the rooms are becoming dated however they are comfortable and cozy. They Gym keeps getting upgraded and is pretty good and the Wet Mess has one of the best atmospheres that I have ever seen. Really good work culture where everyone helps each other out. These jokers really need to look at Salary's for some professionals though or the turnover will remain high. I would go back in a heart beat was reviewed.

All weather airstrip, has wifi and mobile phone, rooms ok, ac, tv. Food ok. Plastic cards only, no cash used on site. Camp seems alright. First impression better than I thougjt it would be.
Sunrise is a great place to work at. The people are all very friendly and there is a good family feel to the site. Being a gold mine it doesn't have the huge dollars to have the latest and greatest bells and whistles, but they do a good job of maintaining and upgrading where it's necessary.
It's quite an isolated site, being 55km's from the nearest town (Laverton) and about 4 hours by highway from Kalgoorlie. It has its own gravel airstrip which is operated by the mine & is well maintained to ensure maximum use by Skippers who are the contracted aviation company.
Site facilities are good with a 4 in 1 sports court, artificial turf indoor cricket/soccer net. Very well equipped gym with a slight gym fee to join.
The dry mess is very good, with a large selection of hot/cold food to choose from as well as a dessert bar & fruit bar. The food is always maintained to a very high standard, if it starts to slip, it's noticed and changed quickly.
The wet mess is good, with large screen tv's about the place, some new improvements have been made to keep it fresh and social.
There is also a good shop on site where you can buy pretty much everything that you could need to get you out of a pinch.
The camp is good, bearing in mind some sections have been there since 1996, so are a little dated, but are well maintained with ensuite rooms for permanant personnel. All ensuite rooms are also raised off the natural terrain with a nice roof and wood decked patio. Chairs are supplied to enjoy a cool one at the end of shift on the balcony.
AngloGold Ashanti have a high commitment to their employees safety & workplace which is evident in the standards at which work is conducted & carried out.
