This place was hide and and seek for 3k a week. I saw one guy carry a small ladder around the plant all day every day for 4 weeks. I finished in 2017 and was happy to leave it was a hard slog sharing rooms and then being unproductive for the majority of your swing.
Hi all,
I have worked on the Wheatstone LNG Project for the last 10 months now. It is in "early works" stage at the moment with a 1200 man camp that that has just been opened up about 4 months ago. Principal contractor Bechtel are currently working with John Holland to construct the 5,500 man village and are in early progress with this at this stage. The LNG plant is also in very early stages as theyre at the earthworks stage of building the surface 10 meters above the current level to avoid flooding levels seen 100 years ago that flattened what is now "Old Onslow". Theiss are the current contractors for this phase of the project, with NRW also having some of the work on the civil projects like building the roads etc... The camp at this stage, known as the "Fly camp" and "Pioneer camp" are quite nice, with the Fly camp being the place of choice. Most of the guys and girls here are on 4:1 rosters and supervisors on 3:1 and there are a minority on 2:1. The food here has improved although it still has some work to be done. Most of the people here are friendly and are from all over WA, Australia and from all over the world, although most of the Bechtel employees are based in Houston, Texas in the US, which can make it tough as some of them dont understand the Aussie way and may not understand our jokes and horse play. Over all its a nice site, theres plenty of work, but as usual there is a shortage of accomodation both here and in the Onslow township, which by the way is about 30 km from town and the plant site is about 10 km from the camp. Anyways I look forward to reading some later posts on this site and would like to see what other people think of this site, as this is just my opinion and not everyones opinion is the same.... See yas
