Yandi

site overview
Yandi iron ore mine is located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Operations began in 1992 and the site has grown considerably to produce over 50 mtpa of iron ore.
The site consists of several large open pits where ore is extracted then processed through a series of large crushers and screen plants. Once ground, the ore is then transported along a series of conveyors where the ore is finally loaded onto trains bound for Port Headland.
Yandi mine also comprises a world class camp which houses 500 people at any one time

Site Reviews

I worked at Yandi in 2012/2013 and would have to say Spinifex is the best camp i have stayed in, it is relatively new and has a variety of activities available, beach volleyball, swimming pool with a functions area, driving range, cricket, gyms, the list goes on. The dry mess is huge and the food is actually really good with great variety. The rooms themselves are standard donga style but were clean and well looked after. The older Yandi camp is less impressive.
The mine site itself is pretty standard and the few times I have been there has been pretty quiet, admin building is very nice!
I worked at Yandi mine in 2007 working in the process plant and camp. The rooms were pretty nice and the food was restaurant quality i thought. Iron ore mine so pretty dirty covered in dust etc but not a bad place to work. the camp is premo with all the communication systems you need. good social life outside of work hours. big place probably over a 400 man camp i think maybe bigger. the work was ok plenty of tick and flick as its a fully established mine. Plenty of expansion going on there.
